“Second Place” Coming September 2007

Second Place

Second Place
by Jody Fausett
Released September 2007.
Jody Fausett’s images brim with dark whimsy. They play with the seemingly impermeable division between life and death.
ISBN: 978-0-9716702-2-8 Published by GHava{Press}

“Like advertisements for a place you might not want to visit, Jody Fausett’s photographs sizzle with inchoate menace. Fragility and a whiff of violence collide in a body of work centered on Fausett’s kin and the vacant-eyed critters who attest to the family’s favorite avocation of taxidermy”

LEGO lover : “the art of the brick™”

nathan Sawaya, Han Solo in Carbonite May 2003 70

Nathan Sawaya, Han Solo in Carbonite May 2003 70″ x 30″ x 10″

I saw Nathan on The Colbert Report last night and had to post this amazing Han Solo LEGO sculpture. It took about 10,000 bricks, and about three months of on and off building. If you happen to be as insane as this artist, you can make your own using Lego Digital Designer. Check out Nathan’s site for more brick love. http://www.brickartist.com

Photosynth

Using photos yanked together from around the Web, Photosynth creates multidimensional spaces with zoom and navigation features. Its architect, Blaise Aguera y Arcas, shows it off in this demo.

Seadragon

Photosynth is based on Microsoft’s newly acquired Seadragon technology. Seadragon’s aim is to change the way we use screens, from wall-sized displays to mobile devices, so that visual information can be smoothly browsed regardless of the amount of data involved or the bandwidth of the network.

“Photosynth might utterly transform the way we manipulate and experience digital images.” TED
