[...]Japan is the world’s most innovative nation, followed by Switzerland, the US and Sweden, according to Innovation: Transforming the way business creates, a new report from the Economist Intelligence Unit, sponsored by Cisco. The Economist Intelligence Unit compiled a ranking of 82 economies based on their level of innovation in 2002-06 and, using the methodology described below (see notes for editors), predicted how the ranking would change in 2007-11. Destroy Television opening nightFuse Gallery NYC / GHava{SL} Center for the Arts in Second Lifemore images on flickr >>[…] “I went to breathe life back into some scripts I wrote a couple years ago to make time lapse videos to merge DTV’s timed screenshots into videos. As soon as I started archiving screenshots, I could feel myself later watching the process of coding the program I would use to assemble the screenshots of that code. It was a very lifelogging moment — as soon as data about your behavior will be available later, you aren’t just living, you’re performing. Here is my ‘performance:’ ;-)” […] Christian Westbrook (SL: Christian Prior)

The works of Mark Jenkins

MARK JENKINS “Embed”
“Embed” by Mark Jenkins 6/12/06 in Washington, DC

I have become a fan of StumbleUpon after finding quite a few really great artists sites. The above is one of my findings. Check out Mark’s site for a ton of other interesting public works he calls “Street Installations”.

As a side note… Interesting compassions can be seen in the Truth campaign’s “Garbage Can” TV spot & PETA’s shock campaign.

Inkjet Printed Film Process

Inkjet printed Film

Was just forwarded an email with a link to this really awesome EPSON printer to Super 8 or 16mm film process.

[…] “In the fall of 2005, I had an idea to make a small film projector out of a VHS cassette, as a mash-up of video and film sensibilities. I thought 16mm film could be used, or if this was unavailable, content would be printed on a strip of plastic. This project was not pursued due to a lack of enthusiasm.” Jesse England […] More >>

charity: water - mother’s day

charity: water

Scott Harrison, a former New York club promoter who decided to take a year off to do something more “meaningful” by spending a year helping others in Africa. That experience clearly changed his life and led him to the founding of charity: water. A rapidly expanding non-profit organization that managed to raise almost $1 million with only a couple of folks in a matter of 8 months. charity provides clean water to a lot of people who are in dire need.If you’re still looking for a last minute Mother’s day gift and have no idea what to get, we’d like to suggest water.
